Install on your phone

Knit in Time is a Progressive Web App, which means you can install it directly from your browser — no app store, no account, no download. The installed version behaves like a native app: it opens in its own window, works offline, and lives on your home screen.

iPhone (Safari)

iOS only supports installing PWAs from Safari, not Chrome or Firefox. If you're on a different browser, copy the link and open it in Safari first.

  1. Open knitintime.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button — the square with the upward arrow at the bottom of the screen (or top, on iPad).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Edit the name if you want, then tap Add in the top-right.
  5. The Knit in Time icon now lives on your home screen. Tap it to open.

Tip: the installed app shares storage with Safari for the same site, so any patterns you've already created in Safari are immediately available.

Android (Chrome)

Chrome on Android usually offers an install prompt automatically the first time you visit. If you missed it or use a different browser, you can trigger the install manually.

  1. Open knitintime.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right.
  3. Tap Install app (sometimes shown as Add to Home screen on older versions).
  4. Confirm with Install. The app appears in your launcher and home screen.

Other Android browsers (Firefox, Samsung Internet, Brave) also support installation through their own menus — look for "Install" or "Add to Home screen".

After installing

  • Offline: after the first load, the app caches itself and works without an internet connection.
  • Updates: when a new version is published, the app updates automatically the next time you open it online — no app store required.
  • Multiple devices: patterns and progress are stored per-device. To keep them in step, set up Cloud Sync.
  • Uninstalling: long-press the icon and remove it like any other app. That clears the local data; if you had Cloud Sync enabled, your data stays in the Gist you own.
